USC Aiken's Steinway Fund

Steinway & Sons – for many years the piano representing the standard of highest quality. Handmade in the U.S., it is the choice of 9 out of 10 concert artists worldwide.

To ensure our students and faculty have the finest pianos in the world, our university is working towards becoming an All-Steinway school. This fund was started to help this goal become more achievable by enabling donors to give and help make a difference.

About Us

Music at USC Aiken strives to enrich students and community with meaningful and enriching arts experiences. Beyond offering traditional student performing ensembles, the music program hosts performing ensembles for the greater Aiken community. Other cultural opportunities exist through independent arts organizations in Aiken, many of which coordinate and sponsor performances at the Etherredge Center and master classes for students at USC Aiken.

Our Goal

Our campaign has already allowed us to replace our current Etherredge Center stage piano with a new 9-foot Steinway concert grand. This piano will benefit all students and organizations that will utilize our prestigious Etherredge Center.

In addition to the keys, we will also be seeking larger donations to represent other aspects of the piano (Piano Lid, Steinway Logo, Major Chord, etc.) If you are interested in making a larger donation, please contact Judith Goodwin at 803-295-7434  or

We hope that the community’s continuing generosity will be directed toward our goal of becoming an All-Steinway School as we cover the purchase price of the remaining pianos for the classrooms and practice rooms. At that point we will be one of only four All-Steinway Schools in the state of South Carolina, and the only public University in the state with that distinction. All-Steinway Schools demonstrate a commitment to excellence and an unparalleled educational experience by providing students with unrivaled equipment inspiring them to realize the highest level in the professional world. It is found that the classification of All-Steinway Schools not only recruits better music students but better students in all fields and better faculty and staff as well.
